The Plateau School for the Deaf Old Students Association (PSDOSA) has announced to hold its 42nd anniversary as well as launch a N40 million appeal fund on December 7, 2019.
In the anniversary which will take place at the school premise, Rukuba Road, Bassa Plateau State, the ever first edition of the association’s official journal “Opportune Magazine” published by a deaf organisation in Africa as a whole will be released.
The 42nd anniversary is expected to be honoured by dignitaries such as His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Barrister Simon Lalong, His Excellency Da Jonah Jang, Her Excellency Dame Pauline Tallen, Honorable Speaker Abok Ayuba, Senator Hezekiah Ayuba Dimka, Senator Ignatius D. Longjan, Senator Istifanus D. Gyang. Also paramount rulers such as HRH Da Jacob Gyang Buba, HRH Alhaji (Dr) Haruna A. Maikano, HRH Yakubu Chaimang and HRH Chief Jauro Magaji.
The appeal fund is projected to renovate and evolve student dormitories, classrooms, and dining hall that are in depleted conditions into Deaf Space state-of-art concept. Amongst many projects, the fund will also assist to establish the first ever Science, Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) laboratory center, and to purchase a school bus.
Since its establishment on 1st December 1977, Plateau School for the Deaf had trained several sets of Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals who are making impacts all over the world.
The school continues to be a model for Nigeria’s schools for the deaf that provide training and education for deaf and hard of hearing.
