BREAKING: Lagos to arraign Funke Akindele for violation of lockdown order

Nollywood Actress, Funke Akindele will be charged before Ogba Magistrate Court 1 on Monday 6, April.
The prosecuting team are said to be from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
Akindele who is also ambassador to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC since the outbreak of COVID-19 that has caused lockdown in parts of the country, on Saturday, 4 April organised a house party to celebrate her husband JJC Skillz’s birthday at her home in Amen Estate Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.
Some of the dignitaries that attended the party included; Naira Marley, Rasheed Gbadamosi, a former Lagos state governorship aspirant, among others.
Onyxnews Nigeria reported on Sunday 5, April that the actress had justified the reason for her actions despite the government’s directives on social gathering of more than 20 people.
She took to her social media page to explain the reason for hosting people in her home.
Funke Akindele commented that she has been together with everyone in the party for over two-weeks.
She wrote;
“Thanks for the love guys!!!! We all have been together for over two weeks. We are safe and take all precautions!!! #amenestate is home for all.”
Some Nigerians had since expressed their displeasure in the actress action. Saying her action was highly irresponsible and disappointing, and described the Dettol ambassador as a bad example to the nation.
They also called on the government to arrest them and isolate everyone who attended the party.
The actress had also apologised for her actions through a video message.
The Federal Government last week ordered a complete lockdown for residents of Lagos, Abuja and Ogun States to prevent the fast spreading pandemic disease.
