NDDC acting executive director of finance alleged cause of death emerges

Niger Delta Development Commission, acting Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Ibanga Bassey Etang, cause of death emerged.

According to the popular Nigerian investigative journalist, Kemi Olunloyo, the NDDC acting Executive Director of Finance might have been killed by “food poisoning”.

She revealed this alongside a letter that ordered the commission to be shutdown for two weeks

Onyxnews Nigeria understands that Olunloyo disclosed this through the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Thursday, 28 May 2020.

The commission shut down its headquarters for 14 days after the death of Etang.

Onyxnews Nigeria had also reported that a source within the NDDC who spoke on condition of anonymity said the top official died on Wednesday night after a brief and undisclosed ailment.

The source added that Etang died amid the Forensic Audit of the Commission directed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The National Assembly is also probing the finances of the Commission under its present Interim Management Committee.

This reliable online news platform gathered that Etang has not been present at work through out this week at the commission’s headquarters in Port Harcourt before his death.

He was also conspicuously absent during the flag off of the distribution of COVID-19 palliatives by the commssion on May 22.

Meanwhile, the deceased corpse has been taken to the ‘COVID-19 Area’, of Braithwaite Memorial Hospital in Port Harcourt.
