BREAKING: APC disqualifies Obaseki from Edo governorship primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, from contesting in the party’s governorship primary election scheduled for June 22, 2020.
Onyxnews Nigeria reports that Obaseki was disqualified on Friday during a press conference organised by the committee.
This reliable online news platform understands that the announcement was made by the committee chairman, Prof. Jonathan Ayuba.
Ayuba said that Obaseki failed to present his Higher School Leaving Certificate.
He also stated that the committee could not ascertain the authenticity of his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.
Two days ago, the University of Ibadan (UI) management confirmed that Obaseki graduated from the institution.
Onyxnews Nigeria reported that the school registrar, Olubunmi Faluyi, revealed in a statement on Wednesday that the governor attended and graduated from the university.
“Mr Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, the Governor of Edo State graduated from the University of Ibadan where he studied Classics,” the statement read.
“Obaseki gained admission to the University in 1976 and graduated in 1979 with a Second Class Honours, Lower Division.
“Records of his Admission and Graduation are intact in the archives of the University,” the statement added
A suit was filed against Obaseki over the allegation of certificate forgery, which the governor dismissed the suit.
On Tuesday, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, asked the party’s screening committee to investigate the allegation.
