JUST IN: Petrol laden tanker explodes on Kara, Lagos-Ibadan expressway (Photo/Video)
Reports reaching Onyxnews Nigeria says there is heavy gridlock on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway as a petrol-laden tanker exploded at the Kara axis of road on Sunday morning.
Details of the incident are still not clear but a witness said the fire started after a loud sound from the truck.
Some residents who are also the source around Berger and Ojodu narrated on social media platforms how they saw smoke from afar.
During the incident, firemen made effort to stop the fire till it was day, the fire fighters were still battling with the fire.
However, at midnight, about 2:00am, the Federal Fire Service pleaded that there should be no vehicle movement around the place.
“Kara Bridge Fire, men of the Federal Fire Service are already at the scene. Please vehicular movements should be halted around the area,” the tweet read.
After the tweet, some eyewitnesses around the area suggested that as it stands at the time of this report, the risk of having another explosion is high if the fire fighters don’t extinguish the fire on time.
