BREAKING: Court takes final decision on Obaseki’s partaking in Edo PDP primary election

A Federal High Court in Port Harcourt has taken a final decision on Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki’s partaking in the state PDP primaries.

Onyxnews Nigeria reports that the Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has struck out a suit requesting to stop Governor Godwin Obaseki from contesting the Edo State Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship primary election.

The Court took the decision on Wednesday after the parties to the suit agreed on an out of court settlement and withdrew the case which was before the court led by Justice Emmanuel Obile ahead of the Edo PDP Primary scheduled for Thursday.

This reliable online news platform reported that the Counsel for the plaintiff in the case had earlier requested for leave of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt to settle with the defendants, which counsels for the defendants did not object.

The court took a break in the morning to allow parties in the suit to peacefully settle their disagreement out of court, however, upon resuming on the case in the earlier, the court struck out the suit after the plaintiff’s lead counsel, D. C. Denwigwe (SAN), withdrew the suit on the grounds that all parties had amicably settled.

Justice Obile of the Port Harcourt division of the Federal High Court praised the parties for settling out of court. He also said it was the proper thing to do.
