JUST IN: Government cancels Eid prayer

Kwara State Government has cancelled next week’s Eid prayer and celebration.
This is as part of the measures to tackle the surging coronavirus (COVID-19).
According to reports gathered by Onyxnews Nigeria, this was the outcome of a meeting between the government and council of Ulamah as well as representatives of other interested parties.
While addressing in a press briefing in Ilorin, the state capital, the state deputy governor who is also the chairman Kwara state technical committee on COVID-19, Kayode Alabi said this was decised because of the increase in number of COVID-19 cases in the state and in the country.
The state government also announced the closure of shopping malls, markets and recreational centres during the Eid celebration season.
