INEC Fixes Date For Anambra Governorship Election.
OnyxNews Nigeria reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have fixed date for the Anambra State governorship election to take place on November 6, 2021.
This was announced in a statement released on Tuesday, January 19, by Festus Okoye, the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education.
INEC revealed in the statement that the tenure of the incumbent Governor, Willie Obiano, will end on March 17, 2022. Constitutionally, the electoral umpire is required to conduct another election within 30 to 150 days before the expiration of the tenure.

Therefore the commission met today and fixed November 6th, 2021 for the election.
INEC also gave political parties between June 10 to July 1, 2021 to conduct and conclude party primary election while campaigns will commence on August 8.
