1. Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has said the State did not seek the help of Sunday Adeyemo Igboho to chase away Fulani herdsmen from the State. The governor said this on Monday when Sunday Igboho visited Yewa axis of the state, with a threat to chase away Fulani herdsmen in Oja Odan and Igua.

2. As Nigerians wait for the new Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Presidency has said no date has been fixed for the announcement of a successor to Mohammed Adamu who reached retirement age on Monday. Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu said on Monday on a Channels Television programme that he was not aware of any close announcement.

3. Nigeria Senate’s Chief Whip and former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu will be arraigned before Justice Inyang Ekwo’s Federal High Court today for a ‘de novo’ trial.

4. A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Inspector General of Police IGP, Mohammed Adamu to appear before it on February 4 over purported continued disobedience to a lawful court order. Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu issued the summons against the IGP following the reported refusal to reinstate a forcefully retired Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Patrick Okoli.

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, has said that alleged houses and properties of Fulani herdsmen being destroyed in the South East as portrayed in some viral videos circulating online were not perpetrated by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, but the communities. The governor said this on Monday during the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) registration exercise in Abakaliki, the state capital.

6. Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi has announced that open grazing or movement of cows by foot in Southeast is still restricted in the State. He spoke on Monday just as the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) said its Eastern Security Network (ESN) would commence full enforcement of Nigeria’s Anti-Grazing Law in the Southeast in less than two weeks.

7. Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has said that his security outfit, the Eastern Security Network, ESN, is now out to deal with killer herdsmen in the region.

8. The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has declared Kogi State a high-risk state for refusing to acknowledge the existence of the virus. The National Incident Manager (NIM) of the PTF COVID-19 pandemic, Mukhtar Muhammad who said this yesterday, urged Nigerians to avoid travelling to the State.

9. The Federal Government on Monday said no Nigerian is safe until everyone is vaccinated against the dreaded COVID-19. Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha said this in Abuja while meeting with leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.

10. The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has announced 676 new cases of the viral Coronavirus in 19 States and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, making the total number of confirmed virus in the country to 131,918.
