JUST IN: Military Begins Show Of Force In Osun Ahead Of June 12

Ahead of June 12 protest, the military has begun a show of force as Osun warns protesters.

Onyxnews reports that Osun State Government has warned protesters planning to occupy the state on June 12 to beware of those that might be planning to hijack the protest.

The Special Adviser to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on security, Mrs. Abiodun Ige, said the state government will not allow anybody to rupture the peace and tranquility that have existed in the state.

She said those planning to stage protests for June 12 celebration should be mindful of some hoodlums who may want to hijack the protest and use it to perpetrate evil.

According to her, while the state government will continue to respect the freedom of expression and movement as enshrined in the constitution, it would not open its eye to turn protest to problems in the state.

Asked why there was a heavy presence of security in the state, she stated that the military and paramilitary action is a show of strength.

We are just trying to make sure we do everything possible to secure the lives of the citizens of the state and also to warn hoodlums planning trouble. The situation in the country is tensed. We should just go about our business without fear.”

Also, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Osun State Command, Mr Daniel Adigun, confirmed that there was a show of force.

He explained that the command was beefing up security in conjunction with other security agencies including the military and paramilitary.

According to him, the activities of cultists are becoming unbearable and effort is being made to forestall further break down of law.

When contacted, the Osun police command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed that there was a show of force to warn those who may be planning to cause trouble on June 12.
