Aston Villa has announced the appointment of former Liverpool captain Stephen Gerrard as their new manager after reaching an agreement with his Scottish club Rangers FC.
Villa Sacked their head coach Dean Smith after a poor run which saw them fall to a five consecutive league defeat and 16th on the premier League table.
Gerrard was Villa’s No1 target to replace Deam Smith considering his impressive performance with Rangers in the Scottish League which is his first managerial appointment.
Speaking after the unveiling, Gerrard said that he feels so honoured to be appointed the manager of Aston villa.he also promised to help the team actualise their dreams.
“Aston Villa is a club with a rich history and tradition in English football, and I am immensely proud to become it’s head coach.Gerrad told the club website.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everybody associated in Glasgow Rangers for giving me the opportunity to manage such a great an iconic football club.
“Helping them secure their record breaking 55th league title will always hold a special place in my heart.i would like to wish the players, staffs and supporters of the great club the very best for future.
Gerrard won Scottish premier League with Rangers FC last season breaking Celtic sequence of nine consecutive league win,they also finished the season with unbeaten run.
Gerrard will take charge of his first game next month December 11 when his side will be facing Liverpool in a premier League game.
