Just in: Thugs Invaded Polling Units In Bayelsa State
In Bayelsa, there has been a disturbing incident in which suspected thugs have forcefully entered polling units in the Southern Ijaw and Sagbama local government areas.
These thugs have resorted to using heavy gunshots and have successfully hijacked election materials.
The situation unfolded at around 9 am in Agorogbene, specifically in unit 6, 7, and 8, which fall under Ward 11 of the local government.
Voters in the area were targeted by the armed thugs, who not only disrupted the voting process but also destroyed election materials.
Eyewitnesses have reported that when individuals attempted to confront these armed men and challenge their actions, they were met with a barrage of heavy gunshots.
This has created an atmosphere of fear and intimidation, making it extremely difficult for voters to exercise their democratic rights.
It is indeed a concerning development as it undermines the integrity of the electoral process and threatens the principle of free and fair elections.
Steps need to be taken urgently to address this situation and ensure the safety and security of voters in Bayelsa.
