BREAKING: Lucky Aiyedatiwa Wins Ondo Guber Election – INEC Declares
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged as the winner of the recent governorship election in Ondo State.
He secured victory by garnering the highest number of votes cast during the election.
In a closely contested race, Governor Aiyedatiwa faced opposition from Ajayi Agboola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olorunfemi Festus of the Labour Party (LP), Abbas Mimiko of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), and other candidates.
The election results were declared by INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Akinwumi Olayemi Durotimi, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja.
Part of the statement revealed that Governor Aiyedatiwa obtained a total of 366,781 votes, while Ajayi received 117,845 votes, and the Labour Party secured 1,162 votes.
He said, ” Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of the APC having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of lawful votes cast, is hereby returned elected.”
Hailing from Ilaje Local Government Area in the southern senatorial district of the state, Governor Aiyedatiwa took office on December 27, 2023, succeeding the late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
