OFFICIAL: Donald Trump Sworn In As 47th US President
Donald Trump has officially taken office as the 47th President of the United States, marking his return to the White House for a second, non-consecutive term.
This remarkable event comes after he previously served as the 45th president from 2017 to 2021.
The swearing-in ceremony was held indoors at the US Capitol, deviating from the usual outdoor tradition due to extremely cold weather conditions.
The ceremony began with JD Vance, the new Vice President-elect, who served as a U.S. Senator for Ohio from 2023 to 2025, taking his oath of office.
At precisely 12 p.m. ET, Chief Justice John Roberts administered the oath of office to Trump, with First Lady Melania Trump standing by his side.
Attendance was restricted due to the indoor nature of the ceremony, with about 700 guests present, a stark contrast to the expected 250,000.
During the oath-taking, Trump placed his left hand on a Bible held by Melania and raised his right hand.
The oath he took was: “I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States and will, to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, so help my God.”
