UPDATED: Moon Sighted In Nigeria, Sunday Eid-el-Fitr Tomorrow Says, Sultan Of Sokoto
The crescent moon marking the beginning of Shawwal 1446 AH has been sighted.
On Saturday, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, made the official announcement.
“With the sighting of the moon, Sunday, March 30, 2025, will be the 1st of Shawwal 1446 AH, marking the day for the Eid-el-Fitr celebration,” the Sultan said in a statement.
Earlier, the Sultan stated that fasting might continue on Sunday since the moon had not yet been sighted in Nigeria to signify the conclusion of Ramadan.
He emphasized that if the moon remained unseen, Eid al-Fitr would be observed on Monday, March 31, 2025.
