VP’s Political Adviser, Baba-Ahmed, Reportedly Resigns

Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Special Adviser on Political Matters to the Vice President, has reportedly resigned, according to report. He submitted his resignation approximately two weeks ago, but the Presidency has not confirmed the news.
Appointed in September 2023, Baba-Ahmed, former Northern Elders Forum spokesperson, had a visible role in the Tinubu administration.
The reason for his departure is unknown. His tenure was marked by a public dispute with Defense Minister Bello Mohammed Matawalle, who criticized the Northern Elders Forum. Baba-Ahmed responded, leading to a debate about appointees’ loyalty to the administration versus their socio-political ties. Baba-Ahmed, brother of Labour Party’s Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has not commented on the report.
