Comedian Ijoba Lande Backtracks, Begs Funke Akindele for Forgiveness

Following a public outcry over claims of underpayment, comedian and actor Ijoba Lande has issued a heartfelt apology to filmmaker Funke Akindele, retracting his earlier statements regarding his compensation for the TV series “My Sibling and I.”
In a tearful video address, Lande sought to clarify the situation, stating that his initial remarks were misunderstood and lacked the necessary context. He explained that while he initially mentioned a payment of N90,000, the correct amount he received was N190,000. He further revealed that Akindele herself intervened to increase his daily pay rate after he raised concerns about the initial figure.
Visibly overcome with emotion, Lande earnestly begged Funke Akindele for her forgiveness, repeatedly emphasizing that he had no intention of tarnishing her image or instigating any form of public dispute. He made a direct plea for her not to pursue legal action, citing his lack of financial means to defend himself against such a suit.
Lande explained that his original video was intended to contribute to a discussion about fair compensation for actors in the industry. He asserted that his mention of the N90,000 was a mistake, which he immediately corrected within the same video by stating the accurate figure of N190,000. He further alleged that some individuals with malicious intent edited the video to isolate the incorrect amount, creating a false narrative.
Lande expressed profound regret for the entire episode and reiterated his sincere apology to Funke Akindele, stressing that he had no intention of causing her any harm or engaging in a conflict. He pleaded for her understanding and forgiveness, expressing his fear of potential legal repercussions.
