Governor Soludo Warns Against “Money Ritual” Prophets

Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo has issued a strong warning to the citizens of the state, particularly the younger generation, regarding the pervasive and harmful influence of individuals masquerading as native doctors and prophets who peddle the dangerous illusion of instant wealth through ritualistic practices. Speaking passionately at a public gathering in Awka, Governor Soludo underscored the significant threat these deceptive figures pose to the moral fabric and future prospects of Anambra’s youth. He emphasized that these fraudulent practitioners exploit the vulnerabilities of young people, leading them to believe in the power of charms and talismans to bypass law enforcement and security measures, especially in the context of illicit activities.
Governor Soludo drew a direct and alarming connection between these false assurances and the tragic predicament of 23 Anambra indigenes currently languishing on death row in Indonesia for drug-related offenses. He stated unequivocally that these individuals were tragically misled by the deceitful promises of these so-called spiritual guides, who peddle the dangerous and utterly false notion that supernatural interventions can render airport security scanners ineffective against the smuggling of narcotics. The governor reiterated that his administration operates based on concrete evidence and due process before apprehending any individual, directly addressing recent public outcry surrounding the detention of a pastor accused of similar fraudulent activities.
Furthermore, Governor Soludo dissected the inherent contradictions and outright falsehoods embedded within the claims propagated by these self-proclaimed spiritual authorities. He pointed out the stark irony between their supposed supernatural abilities and the often-humble and challenging realities of their own lives, citing the poignant example of a detained practitioner whose own son is employed as a waiter. The governor stressed that these individuals actively promote a damaging narrative that material prosperity can be magically conjured through rituals, thereby fostering a culture of idleness and discouraging young people from engaging in productive endeavors in favor of chasing baseless fantasies of immediate riches.
