Ballon D’Or 2025: Award Date Confirmed —France Football
The Ballon d’Or award ceremony is set to take place on September 22 this year, and for the first time, the number of awards for men and women will be equal, organisers announced on Monday.
New categories have been introduced for women: best goalkeeper, best young player, and top scorer at club or national level. These additions bring the total to six awards each for male and female players.
An extra award, the Socrates Award, will also be presented for contributions to solidarity and is open to both men and women.
Nominees for the awards will be revealed in early August.
Last year’s ceremony was marred by Real Madrid’s boycott after learning their Brazilian forward, Vinicius Junior, did not win the best men’s player award, which instead went to Manchester City’s Rodri.
