S’EAGLES: Osimhen, Lookman Missed Out From Super Eagles Squad To Play Ghana, Russia [Full List]
Eric Chelle has unveiled a 26-man Super Eagles squad for the 2025 Unity Cup in London, recalling veteran forward Ahmed Musa for the first time since January 2024.
Musa, who also resumes his role as captain, leads a team largely composed of fringe players and home-based talents, as several Europe-based regulars are rested ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Notably absent from the squad are stars such as Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, Calvin Bassey, Ademola Lookman, and Alex Iwobi.
In their stead, nine players from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) have been included, giving them a valuable opportunity to shine on the international stage.
Nigeria will take on Ghana on May 28. Following the tournament, most NPFL players are expected to return home, while key players like Boniface, Ola Aina, and Troost-Ekong are set to rejoin the squad for the June 6 friendly against Russia in Moscow.
