BREAKING: JAMB Announces Release of Resit UTME Results Amid Absenteeism Concerns

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of the rescheduled UTME examination for candidates impacted by a technical error during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
According to a statement from Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, 336,845 candidates were rescheduled to retake the exam following the exclusion of centres with unaffected sessions and the inclusion of previously unverified candidates. However, 21,082 candidates were absent from the resit, a figure for which no explanation has been provided.
“Of the 336,845 who were eventually scheduled after isolated good sessions of the affected centres were excluded and their previously unverified candidates were added, 21,082 were absent,” the statement confirmed.
This development comes after the original UTME results were released on May 9, only for JAMB to disclose a week later that a technical glitch compromised the results of nearly 380,000 candidates.
Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB, disclosed on May 14 that the problem stemmed from faulty server updates that disrupted the uploading of candidate responses during the first three days of the examination, affecting 157 centres mainly in Lagos and the South-East.
During a press briefing, Professor Oloyede apologized tearfully to candidates and assured the public that affected candidates would have the opportunity to retake the exam.
The release of the resit results marks a significant step in resolving the examination crisis, though questions remain about the high absentee rate during the resit.
