Tinubu Names 36 New Board Members for Federal Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education

President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of 36 new members to the governing councils of various federal tertiary institutions, including universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. The appointments were made public through a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, on Wednesday.
The statement titled ‘President Tinubu announces more appointments for federal institutions’ outlined that the new members are to assume their roles immediately.
The appointees represent a wide geographical spread, with Hon. Chidi Nwogu from Imo State appointed to the African Aviation and Aerospace University, Abuja, and Dr. Folashade Mulikat Kareem from Kwara State named to the University of Jos.
Other appointments include Dipe Olusina Adeniyi from Lagos State for the Federal University of Technology, Ikot-Abasi, and Akanimo Umoh from Akwa Ibom State for the Federal University of Technology, Babura.
In the polytechnic sector, Hon. Shehu Kagara from Kaduna State was appointed to the Federal Polytechnic, Isuochi, while Rahila Ilegbodu from Taraba State was named to the Federal Polytechnic, Orogun.
Colleges of Education also received new members, such as Ibrahim Abba Geidam from Yobe State for the Federal College of Education, Gwoza, and Hon. Goodluck Opiah from Imo State for the Federal College of Education, Odugbo.
This appointment drive is part of the President’s broader agenda to enhance institutional governance and promote educational excellence across Nigeria’s federal tertiary institutions.
