New U.S. Travel Ban Bars Citizens from 12 Nations

President Donald Trump’s new travel ban came into effect early Monday, barring nationals from twelve countries from entering the United States. The policy revives a divisive immigration restriction from his first term and aims to strengthen national security.
The ban targets countries including Afghanistan, Iran, Libya, Haiti, and others with either adversarial relations or severe crises. Partial restrictions also apply to seven other countries, with some temporary work visas permitted.
Trump justified the ban by referencing a recent “terrorist attack” on Jewish protesters in Colorado by a visa overstayer. “This attack underscored the extreme dangers posed to our country by the entry of foreign nationals who are not properly vetted,” he said.
Afghan refugee applicant Mehria expressed deep concern: “We gave up thousands of hopes and our entire lives on a promise from America, but today we are suffering one hell after another.”
