ISRAEL-IRAN CRISIS: China Faults Trump Of ‘Pouring Oil’ On Iran, Israel War
On Tuesday, China accused President Donald Trump of escalating tensions between Iran and Israel by “pouring oil” on the growing conflict, after he urged residents in Tehran to “immediately evacuate.”
This comes after Israel, following years of hostility and a long-standing shadow war with Iran, launched a surprise aerial assault last week on Iranian targets.
Israel claimed the strikes were aimed at stopping Iran from developing nuclear weapons—an allegation Tehran continues to deny.
The sudden escalation has raised fears of a broader regional war.
US Donald Trump, responding to the developments, called on Iran to return to nuclear negotiations that had been disrupted by Israel’s attacks.
In a stark warning posted on his Truth Social account, Trump declared: “Everyone should immediately evacuate!”
When asked about Trump’s remarks, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said: “Fanning the flames, pouring oil, making threats and mounting pressure will not help to promote the de-escalation of the situation, but will only intensify and widen the conflict.
“The Chinese side calls on all relevant parties, especially countries with special influence on Israel, to shoulder their responsibilities, take immediate measures to de-escalate tensions, and prevent the conflict from expanding and spreading.”
Amid the intensifying violence, China’s embassy on Tuesday in a statement on WeChat, advised its citizens to leave the country “as soon as possible.”
“The Chinese mission in Israel reminds Chinese nationals to leave the country as soon as possible via land border crossings, on the precondition that they can guarantee their personal safety.
“It is recommended to depart in the direction of Jordan.
