EFL Slaps Sheffield Wednesday With 12-Point Deduction, See Why
Sheffield Wednesday has been handed a 12-point deduction by the English Football League (EFL).
The penalty follows the club’s decision to enter administration on Friday morning.
Already sitting at the bottom of the Championship table, Wednesday now drop to -6 points.
The club reportedly filed a notice at a specialist companies court around 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
Prior to this, the team had faced multiple charges for breaching regulations after failing to pay players’ wages on time.
