BREAKING: Nigeria records fresh cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), affected states

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 17 fresh cases of the deadly pandemic in the country.

The agency announced the development via micro-blogging site, Twitter handle on Friday, increasing the number of the virus cases to 305.

Giving updates of the cases the NCDC tweeted, “17 new cases of #COVID-19 have been reported as follows: eight in Lagos, three in Katsina, two in FCT, one in Niger, one in Kaduna, one in Anambra and one in Ondo.

“As of 09:30 pm on the 10th of April, there are 305 confirmed cases, 58 discharged, seven deaths.

“Lagos- 163 FCT- 56 Osun- 20 Oyo- 11 Edo- 12 Bauchi- 6 Akwa Ibom- 5 Kaduna- 6 Ogun- 7 Enugu- 2 Ekiti- 2 Rivers-2 Benue- 1 Ondo- 2 Kwara- 2 Delta- 2 Katsina-2, Anambra-1.”

Below is the breakdown of states affected with the virus as at Friday night, April 10, 2020.

In another development, the Katsina State Government had said on Friday that the wife and two children of the medical doctor, who died of COVID-19 in Daura local government area of the state had contracted the virus.

The state governor, Aminu Masari, who revealed this to newsmen, said the wife and two children had been taken to an isolation centre at the Federal Medical Center, Katsina where they were being treated and quarantined.

The late Doctor, Aliyu Yakubu, had traveled to Lagos and returned to Daura after which he fell sick and was later confirmed to be infected with the virus.

He was admitted at the Nigeria Air Force Reference Hospital, Daura where he died on April 4.
