BREAKING: Nigeria records new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) as toll hits 2388, see breakdown of each state

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has recorded new cases of coronavirus COVID-19 in Nigeria.

Onyxnews Nigeria reports that the NCDC announced that 220 new cases of the raging COVID-19 have been recorded in Nigeria, bringing the total number of confirmed cases of the pandemic in the country to 2388.

NCDC tweeted: “220 new cases of #COVID19; 62-Lagos 52-FCT 31-Kaduna 13-Sokoto 10-Kebbi 9-Yobe 6-Borno 5-Edo 5-Bauchi 4-Gombe 4-Enugu 4-Oyo 3-Zamfara 2-Nasarawa 2-Osun 2-Ebonyi 2-Kwara 2-Kano 2-Plateau 2388 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria Discharged: 385 Deaths: 85.”

Meanwhile, Kano government relaxes lock down in the state despite the upsurge in COVID-19 in the state.

Onyxnews Nigeria reports that Governor of the state, Abdullahi Ganduje made the announcement at a press briefing organised by the State Government Taskforce on COVID-19, held at the government house on Saturday.

He explained that the government has relaxed the lockdown by six hours each day from 10 am to 4 pm on Mondays and Thursdays. He also said that all the major markets in the state would remain closed, except Yankaba and Yanlemo markets where vegetables and fruits are sold.

Ganduje further stated that only supermarkets in the state will be allowed to operate within the six-hour timeframe, and customers must follow the COVID-19 protocols before they access the places.
