Edo 2020: Confusion as court stops Obaseki from participating in PDP primaries

More confusion for Governor Obaseki as one PDP aspirant, Hon Ogbeide Ihama on Monday secured a Court order stopping him from participating in party’s primaries.

Onyxnews Nigeria reports that court order stated that Gov Obaseki is restrained from participating in forthcoming Edo State gubernatorial primary election on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This is coming few hours after a frontline aspirant of PDP, Gideon Ikhine, has stepped down from the race for Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Ahead of the forthcoming governorship primary election on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday in Edo, a forefront aspirant of the party, Ikhine has decided to step down for Obaseki.

Onyxnews Nigeria reported that Ikhine announced his decision to step down for the governor on Monday at a ceremony in Benin, Edo State capital.

In attendance at the ceremony included: Gov. Obaseki, state party chairman, Dr Tony Aziegbemi and other party leaders from across the state.

Announcing his decision, the aspirant said that there was no progress without a sacrifice, adding that the governor’s leaving APC to the party was God’s great answer to the party and his aspiration.

He noted that two persons could have the same vision but the means of approaching them differs.

Ikhine explained that he was not actually stepping down, but ”stepping behind the man who would lead the party to glory come Sept.19″.

He said he and his supporters had resolved to work with the governor to ensure that a better tomorrow is accomplished in the state.

In response to that, Governor Obaseki said that with the situation of politics in the state, history was being made in the country.
