BREAKING: Federal Govt cancels 2020 WASSCE for Nigerian students
Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari has cancelled the 2020 WAEC examination for Nigerian students.
Onyxnews Nigeria reports that the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu revealed that the final year secondary school students in Nigeria will not participate in the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The Minister, who disclosed this to State House Correspondents on Wednesday after the week’s virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, also said there is no date for school resumption yet.
He said he would prefer Nigerian students lose an academic year to expose them to dangers.
Onyxnews Nigeria had reported on July 6th that the 2020 WASSCE date was revealed by the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, on behalf of the Federal government at the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 briefing in Abuja.
Nwajiuba said that the examination will hold from August 4th to September 5th 2020.
Meanwhile, the issue has been reversed that Nigerian students will not participate in this year WASSCE and reopening of schools have also been cancelled.
