Breaking: Tribunal sacks Bayelsa Governor, Duoye Diri, orders another governorship election

The Bayelsa State Governorship Petition Tribunal has nullified the election of Governor Duoye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The election was nullified by a three-member panel which held that the election was illegal due to the exclusion of Action Democratic Party (ADP) and its candidate, King George from the November 16, 2019 governorship election.
The tribunal ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a bye election within 90 days.
The tribunal ruling can, however, still be challenged at the appeal court.
Monday’s ruling comes two days after the tribunal dismissed three other petitions against the election of Governor Diri.
