Obaseki pay courtesy visit to Buhari, speaks on returning to APC
Governor Obaseki on Friday paid a courtesy visit to President Buhari, and discussed on returning to APC.
OnyxNews Nigeria reports that Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Obaseki also spoke about his returning to Nigeria’s rulling party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Edo state governor however told State House correspondents at the end of the meeting that it would be immoral for him to return to APC.
Obaseki who won the just concluded Edo state governorship election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party had dumped the APC for the PDP when the ruling party disqualified him from participating in its primary election.
Obaseki defeated his opponent Osagie Ize-Iyamu of Buhari’s All Progressives Congress in Edo State election.
There have been concerns that having won the election on the platform of the PDP, he might return to the APC.
But the governor who met with the President alongside his deputy, Philip Shuaibu, said it would be “immoral to do return to APC.”
Obaseki and Shuaibu met President Buhari and some lawmakers from Edo state.
