Motorists Ran As Armed Robbers Take Over Sangotedo, Lagos
Many motorists were robbed of their valuables by armed robbers in the Sangotedo Area of Lagos State, earlier on Tuesday.
The incident which happened at about 5:30am saw motorists and commuters running for their lives and safety.
According to An24.net, motorist simply identified as Adebowale, said he was on his way to pick a passenger when the incident happened. He complained about the absence of men of the Lagos State Police on the road.
Adewale said, motorists upon getting the information that armed men were operating, abandoned their cars and ran for safety.
”My life flashed before my eyes, I was on my way to work when I saw people jumping from a tipper loaded with construction site workers. Many people who were unlucky got robbed of their valuables with their cars partly destroyed.
“I drive for a car-hailing company and it’s worrisome that this is what we are facing in Lagos at the moment. There is currently no security to protect lives and properties,” Adewale said.
Another commuter, Ayomide Taylor, was robbed of his gadgets and ATM card, he appealed to the government to address the security issue that is currently becoming a challenge in the State.
He said, “I was robbed of my phone while going to work. I usually leave my house around 5 am to escape the Ajah Roundabout traffic due to road construction. I have heard of different cases of robbery since the EndSARS protest but I experienced it today. The boys were fully armed with guns, I had no option than to follow their orders. My two phones, ATM card and my colleague’s phone was taken at gunpoint.
“I’m distraught at the moment and work is impossible anymore, it’s just unfortunate that Lagos doesn’t seem safe anymore. Meanwhile, the festive season is fast approaching. I will employ the Lagos State Government to look into this as soon as possible.”
