FG Reveals First Set Of People To Receive COVID-19 Vaccine (Full List)
FG on Tuesday revealed first set of people to receive COVID-19 vaccine.
OnyxNews Nigeria reports that the Federal Government of Nigeria led by President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed the first set of people to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
This online news platform understands that the Executive Director of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Faisal Shuaib said frontline health workers, national leaders and other vulnerable persons will be first to receive the vaccine.
Shuaib made this known during the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 press conference held in Abuja on Tuesday.
He said 100,000 doses of the vaccines are expected to arrive the country later this January.
He noted that 70 per cent of the total population in the country will be covered, forty per cent will be vaccinated in 2021, while 30 per cent will be covered in 2022.

Mr. Shuaib also said: “Nigeria is expected to secure free delivery of 42 million doses of vaccines, which will be a combination of all the available and approved vaccines currently in the market”, adding that that would vaccinate just 20 percent of Nigeria’s population.
However, experts have advised the Federal Government against the procurement of COVID-19 vaccine at the moment.
A virologist at the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, Prof. Rosemary Audu said it is unnecessary to introduce it now to Nigerians.
She stressed that there would be no need for vaccine if 70 per cent of the population in the country had developed antibodies against the pandemic virus.
