What Alake Of Egbaland Said After Sunday Igboho, Others Declared Oduduwa Republic

The Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, has warned Sunday Igboho and other Yoruba activists against the declaration of the Oduduwa Republic.

The monarch appealed to them to put that idea aside.

According to the monarch, the Yorubas actions could lead to war in Africa as a whole because no country is capable of taking 200 million Nigerians as refugees.

Alake made this statement on Saturday when some members of the National Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria visited his palace in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The king said Nigeria cannot afford to go on another civil war at this period because it will affect the whole world.

He said all Nigerians irrespective of their tribes, religion, and political affiliation must work together for the goodness of the country. If Nigeria should fail, the whole black race has failed. Adding that Nigeria is better as one united nation than breaking up.

The monarch’s statement came a few days after Sunday Igboho and others declared that Yoruba land is no longer part of Nigeria. They said the country’s borders in the South West will be opened and seaports will be taken over by them.
