BREAKING: NLC Again Resumes Strike In Kaduna, Gives Why

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has said it will resume its suspended industrial action in Kaduna state.
According to The Nation, the labour union has directed its state councils and affiliate groups to mobilise for the latest action.
Onyxnews Nigeria gathers that the president of the NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, stated this during a press conference after an emergency National Executive Council meeting of the congress on Tuesday, June 22, in Abuja.
Wabba accused the state governor, Nasir El-Rufai of failing to respect the Memorandum of Understanding brokered between the NLC and the state government by the federal government.

He said the congress has decided to resume the strike after exhausting all avenues, including writing letters to President Muhammadu Buhari and the minister of labour and employment, Chris Ngige.
Kaduna governor El-Rufai fires 99 appointees Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state disclosed on Friday, June 18, that he has sacked 99 political appointees.
Governor El-Rufai added that he started implementing its “rightsizing policy” by disengaging 99 political appointees but is yet to sack any state civil servant.
However, despite the resistance from the NLC, the Kaduna governor said the rightsizing of civil servants will still go on as planned because of dwindling revenues that is accruing to the state government from the federation account.

The NLC also directed its affiliate unions and the civil society organisations in the state to join the strike scheduled to commence at midnight on Tuesday, June 15, 2021.
The strike was declared on Monday, June 14, in Lafia, the state capital, after the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting with the labour movement in the state.
