Popular Nigerian Pastor Sentenced to Life Imprisonment.
Onyxnews Nigeria reports that an Ekiti State High Court in Ado Ekiti on Thursday sentenced Prophet Olakanye Oni, a preacher, to life in prison for the circumstances that led to the death of a woman who sought spiritual treatment from him.
According to the prosecution team led by Mr Julius Ajibare, Director of Public Prosecutions, Ministry of Justice, Ekiti State, “The prophet, sometime in March 2017, brought one Omowale Gbadamosi from Lagos to Ado Ekiti on the pretence that he (the cleric) had answer to her barrenness.”

He took N52,000 from the victim when he arrived at his church, Palace of Mercy, Mathew Street, Odo Ado Area, Ado Ekiti. He hypnotised and enticed the victim into his room. He then raped her while spreading a white cloth over her.
“After cleaning the victim’s private parts with a white handkerchief, the convict put a substance suspected to be potash into her vagina. As a result of the material placed into the victim’s vagina by the priest, the victim’s vagina deteriorated, resulting in the victim’s death.”

The prosecution called six witnesses to prove their case, while Chris Omokhafe, the defence attorney, called the convict and one other witness.
Justice Abiodun Adesodun made the judgement which sentenced the cleric for life imprisonment for manslaughter.
