Lagos Government Declares Curfew In The State.

Onyxnewng reports that the Lagos State Government has declared a 7-hour curfew in the state on Saturday, 24th July, 2021.

The information was disclosed by the state Commissioner of Information, Gbenga Omotoso on Thursday.

The brief curfew is to enable the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) conduct hitch-free elections into positions of Chairmen and Councillors in all the 57 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas.

The restriction of movement across the State is between the hours of 8a.m and 3p.m on Saturday.

The restriction will facilitate the ease of movement of the electorate, election materials and LASIEC officials for the sanctity of the election, effective monitoring and enhanced security.

“All eligible voters are urged to participate in the elections, which require the cooperation of all residents,” the statement read.

Meanwhile the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State on Sunday last week presented the party’s flags to its candidates for the Local Council elections in the state billed for July 24.

The council elections will be conducted into the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) of Lagos State on Saturday, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who presented the flags to the 57 chairmanship and vice-chairmanship candidates at the APC Secretariat in Ikeja, said the party was certain of victory.

Mr Sanwo-Olu urged all candidates and party leaders to work together to ensure resounding victory at the election.

He urged the party leaders at various local governments to also present flags to all the councillorship candidates.

He described the official handing over of APC flags to all candidates as significant and important.
