BREAKING: DSS Storm CBN, Takes Over Emefiele’s Office
The operatives of State Security Service, SSS on Monday invaded the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and taken over the office of the apex bank’s embattled governor, Godwin Emefiele.
The SSS and Mr Emefiele have been at odds over alleged terrorism financing.
The secret service had previously sought a court order for Mr Emefiele’s arrest, but he has been out of the country for his annual leave, which expires tomorrow, January 17.
However, in December, the FCT High Court barred the DSS from arresting, inviting, or detaining Emefiele.
The SSS operatives arrived at the CBN headquarters Monday afternoon with about 20 vehicles and armed personnel.
The operatives also barred all bank employees from entering Mr Emefiele’s office.
