BREAKING: Veteran Actor Is Dead
Al Brown, the veteran actor best known for his role in the hit TV show “The Wire,” is dead.
“The Wire” actor died at the age of 83.
Brown rose to prominence as police commander Stanislaus “Stan” Valchek in the hit HBO drama about the Baltimore drug trade.
Brown’s death was announced on his YouTube channel and on his Facebook page.
On Saturday night, his Facebook page was updated to read, “My name is Michael. I manage Al’s Facebook page.
“I am sad to let you know that angels came for Al yesterday morning, Friday, January 13, 2023.
“May his memory be a blessing to his family, his friends, and each of you.
This page will remain as a testimony to Al’s work and love for his fans.”
Following an interview with Brown’s daughter, Jenny, the entertainment news site, TMZ also announced Brown’s death. Her father died on Friday in Las Vegas, and she told the website he was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
She told TMZ that her father, who became an actor in the 1990s, was a Vietnam War veteran who served two tours with the US Air Force there.
Brown appeared in a number of TV shows, including “Rescue Me,” “Commander In Chief,” “Forensic Files,” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” but he is best known for his portrayal of Valchek, a cunning Polish-American police chief, in all five seasons of “The Wire.”
