Gov. Umahi Reveals His Desire To Run For Senate President
Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi has officially revealed his desire to run for the post of Senate President for the 10th National Assembly.
Gov. Umahi made the declaration in Abakaliki, during a Statewide broadcast and Press conference held on Wednesday at the Executive Council Chambers.
He appealed to the President-Elect, the Vice President-Elect and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to zone the presidency of the 10th Senate to the South East.
He argued that zoning the Senate Presidency to South East and the Speakership of the House of Representatives to North West will serve for inclusiveness and balance of power and call on the National Assembly to amend the rules of the Senate to enable first-time senators like himself to contest.
“I want to put myself forward for the position of the Senate President. I want to appeal to the National Assembly to amend the rules. I put myself forward. I will not go against their decision. Let the will of God come to pass. We courageously left PDP because our people needed to aspire to the leadership of this country.”
