NALVEJ Calls For Truce Over Kwara Media Workers Strike
The National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ) in Kwara State has called on the striking workers of the state-owned media to end their strike in the interest of the public they serve…
NALVEJ recognizes the importance of a functioning media, and urges all parties to work towards a resolution that benefits the people of the state.
In a statement released on Tuesday in Ilorin, Tunde Akanbi, the chairman of NALVEJ, and Abdullahi Olesin, the publicity secretary, jointly made the appeal.
The association also called on the state government to consider the grievances of the striking workers.
NALVEJ believes that a dialogue between the government and the media workers is the best way to resolve the current situation.
NALVEJ also called for a roundtable discussion between the state government and the striking media workers to resolve their issues.
The striking workers are seeking improved working conditions and welfare, and have been on a two-day warning strike as of Tuesday.
