Argentina To Play Friendly With S’Eagles In March
The upcoming friendly match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the World champions, Argentina, is scheduled to take place in March at the Olympics Sports Centre Stadium in Hangzhou, China.
In addition to Nigeria, Argentina will also be playing against Ivory Coast, as announced by the Argentine Football Association (AFA) on Monday.
The announcement of the game follows an agreement between AFA and a Chinese corporation.
This March fixture will revive the rivalry between the Super Eagles and Argentina, who have faced each other nine times in the past.
Argentina has emerged victorious in six of those encounters, with five of those wins occurring in the World Cup (2-1 in 1994, 1-0 in 2002, 1-0 in 2010, 3-2 in 2014, and 2-1 in 2018).
The only draw between the teams took place in the King Fahd Cup in 1995, which ended 0-0.
The Eagles have recorded victories in friendly matches, with the most recent one occurring in Abuja in 2011, and another notable victory in Krasonar, Russia, in 2017, with a score of 4-2.
