Nigeria’s Rema Becomes First African Artist To Win Chinese Music Award
Divine Ikubor, known by his stage name Rema, has created history by becoming the first African artist to receive a prestigious Chinese music award.
The remarkable achievement was accomplished when his collaboration with American superstar Selena Gomez on the remix of his song ‘Calm Down‘ won the esteemed title of Best Collaboration of the Year at the 2024 Hito Music Award in the Republic of China.
The award ceremony, hosted by DJ Andy and presented by Hit FM in Taiwan, is known for recognizing exceptional talent from around the world.
Rema now joins the ranks of a select few international musicians who have received this honor, including renowned American and British artists.
Notably, global pop sensation Taylor Swift has been a standout at the awards ceremony, boasting an impressive six awards under her belt.
