UCL: Osimhen Rescues Napoli From Home Defeat Against Barcelona
Nigerian international Victor Osimhen scored the equalizer for Napoli against Barcelona last night, drawing the match 1-1 and keeping Napoli’s hopes alive for advancing to the next round of the UEFA Champions League.
The Round of 16 fixture seemed destined for a home defeat for Napoli after Robert Lewandowski had put Barcelona ahead on the hour mark.
Pedri played a pass between the legs of Amir Rrahmani, finding Lewandowski, who controlled the ball before turning and firing a low shot into the far bottom corner from inside the 22-meter box.
However, in the 75th minute, Osimhen displayed strength and skill by turning past Inigo Martinez in the penalty area, receiving a pass from Cameroonian teammate Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa, and scoring from 14 yards out.
This goal proved to be Osimhen’s last contribution before being substituted for Giovanni Simeone.
