EPL: Everton Handed 2 Points Deduction Over PSR Breaches
Everton, a Premier League club, has received a two-point deduction for another violation of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
The club was charged alongside Nottingham Forest in January for breaching the PSR regulations covering the period until the end of the 2022/23 season.
Nottingham Forest was given a four-point deduction and has appealed against this decision.
Before the points deduction was announced, Everton held the 15th position in the Premier League table, sitting four points above the relegation zone.
However, following the deduction, they have now fallen to 16th place with 27 points, trailing Brentford and holding a two-point and two-place advantage over 18th-placed Luton.
This is not the first time Everton has faced a points deduction for PSR breaches.
In November, they were penalized with a 10-point deduction for exceeding permitted losses by £19.5 million until the end of the 2021/22 season.
This penalty was later reduced to six points after a successful appeal.
