GWR: Nigerian Doctor Breaks Record For Largest Drawing
Nigerian doctor and hyper-realism artist Fola David achieved a remarkable feat by setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest drawing by an individual. Working on a piece spanning 1000 square meters to showcase Nigeria’s rich cultural tapestry, David started this ambitious project on July 16 at Onikan Stadium in Lagos.
On Friday night, in a now-trending post on social media, he wrote: “Congratulations to us all. On Day 4 at 9 pm, we broke the current record of 629.98 square metres, but we are not done! As the goal is to get over 1000 square metres of canvas covered in drawings; we are currently at 689 square metres. Let’s Go!”
During his record-breaking attempt, notable figures such as Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party, previous GWR titleholder Hilda Baci, and Farooq Oreagba, the prominent figure at the 2024 Ojude Oba Festival, visited David.
Additionally, the College of Medicine University of Lagos, where David is an alumnus, showed their support by visiting the talented artist during the creation of his monumental artwork.
