JUST IN: Jonathan, Buhari, Others Convene At The Council Of State Gathering Held At Aso Rock

The Council of State meeting, attended by former Presidents Jonathan and Buhari physically, saw Generals Gowon (retd) and Abubakar, as well as the governors of Abia, Adamawa, and Akwa Ibom States joining virtually.

The council’s members include the current president as chairman, the vice president as deputy chairman, all living former Heads of State and Presidents, former Chief Justices of Nigeria, the President of the Senate, Speaker of the House of Representatives, all state governors, and the Attorney-General of the Federation.

This body advises the executive on policy matters, and the recent session focused on key national issues like food security, national security, and economic policies.

The previous meeting took place on February 10, 2023, under former President Buhari.
