JUST IN: Iranian Police Apprehends Italian Journalist In Tehran
Iranian Foreign Ministry in Rome on Friday confirmed that its police apprehended an Italian journalist, Celia Sala, working for Il Foglio newspaper while conducting journalistic work within the country.
As at the time of filling this report, the reason behind her arrest is still clear is not revealed.
Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani is closely monitoring the case with the utmost attention.
Additionally, the Italian Government is actively engaging with the Iranian authorities to ascertain the legal situation and to verify the conditions of detention.
Earlier on Friday the Italian ambassador to Iran visited the detained journalist.
