BREAKING: Hamas Spokesperson Qanoua Shot Dead In Israeli Attack
According to Hamas-affiliated media, Israeli airstrike in northern Gaza killed Hamas spokesperson Abdel-Latif Al-Qanoua early Thursday, making him the latest group figure to be targeted since Israel resumed operations in the enclave.
Hamas-run Al-Aqsa television claimed that, Al-Qanoua was killed when his tent was hit in Jabalia.
The same strike reportedly injured several people, while separate attacks killed at least six in Gaza City and one in Khan Younis, southern Gaza.
Israel resumed its bombing and ground operations last week, ending a two-month ceasefire and increasing pressure on Hamas to release the remaining hostages in its captivity.
Gaza’s health ministry reports that at least 830 people, more than half of them children and women, have been killed since Israel intensified military strikes on March 18.
Meanwhile, Israel and Hamas have accused each other of violating the truce.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he ordered the strikes because Hamas rejected proposals to extend the ceasefire.
On Wednesday, he reiterated threats to seize territory in Gaza if Hamas did not release the remaining hostages.
