“I Wish She Was Here to See the King of Fashion I’ve Become” – Toyin Lawani Honors Late Mother As She Recreates Iconic Look

Nigerian celebrity designer Toyin Lawani has paid a heartfelt tribute to her late mother, Princess Atinuke Babalola, in celebration of Mother’s Day.
Taking to Instagram, Lawani shared an emotional post featuring a recreation of one of her mother’s memorable outfits. She credited her late mother for shaping her into the woman she is today, emphasizing the invaluable lessons she learned—from hard work and dedication to kindness and compassion.
Despite their royal lineage, Lawani revealed that her mother instilled a strong work ethic in her and her siblings, ensuring they understood the value of perseverance. She expressed deep regret that her mother is no longer alive to witness her success, both as a fashion icon and as a devoted mother raising her children with the same principles she was taught.
“I wish she was here to see the King of Fashion that I’ve become. I wish she could see the successful entrepreneur and business mogul I’ve grown into,” she wrote. “But even though she’s not here physically, I know she’s smiling down on me, proud of the person I’ve become.”
Lawani concluded her tribute with a heartfelt message of gratitude, acknowledging her mother’s sacrifices, unwavering love, and lasting influence on her life. She referred to her as the “King of All Queens,” expressing eternal love and appreciation for the legacy she left behind.
